What Do You Really Mean When You Say, "I AM FINE"

Do you know that “I am fine” is the most told lie in the English language? It is usually used when someone is, in fact, not fine but they say “I am fine” because they don’t want to burden others and it’s easier to explain than what’s wrong, would you agree?

F.I.N.E is said to stand for “Feeling Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional”, and can also be “Feeling I’m Nothing to Everyone” or “Feeling Inadequate, Needing Encouragement”. Whatever your definition of FINE may be most of us would just lie and say “I am FINE”, because it’s an easy way out.

Then why do we say “I am fine” when clearly, we’re not:

  • Not sure of what you really feel
  • Pretending to be okay
  • To avoid conflicts
  • Scared to tell what you're really feeling

Only those who identify with these feelings can truly understand the agony behind the words “I am fine.”

The next time someone asks how you are, think about the response you’re already anticipating. What if we didn’t settle for “fine”? What if we stop, take a moment, and answer with true sincerity how I’m doing? Or better yet, tell them how you’re feeling. We could all benefit from slowing down and honestly evaluating how we are doing.

Healing Attachment Anxiety: The Journey to a Confident, Self-Loving, Secure You and the T.E.M.P.O Cycle with Trevor Hanson – Part 2

What if you could finally interrupt the anxious spiral before it takes over and learn to feel safe, calm, and secure no matter what?

On The Billy Boss Show, I continue my powerful conversation with Secure Attachment Coach Trevor Hanson, diving deeper into how to break free from anxious attachment and rebuild a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and emotional freedom.

In Part 1, Trevor helped us understand why we fall into people-pleasing, overthinking, and fear of abandonment. In this part 2 episode, we go further unpacking how to interrupt the T.E.M.P.O. Cycle in real time and begin the healing process that lasts.

You’ll learn how to recognise the stages of your T.E.M.P.O. Cycle: Trigger, Emotion, Meaning, Protection, and Outcome and stop it before it spirals. Trevor walks us through applying emotional-regulation tools that calm the nervous system in moments of anxiety or conflict, reframing limiting beliefs with compassion and awareness, reconnecting with your inner child to rebuild safety and validation, and strengthening true self-trust the foundation of healthy love and secure attachment.

Trevor shares how the T.E.M.P.O. Cycle isn’t just a framework but a mirror for your emotional patterns. Through awareness, compassion, and consistent practice, you can transform anxiety into clarity and confidence.

We also explore how forgiveness, compassion, and accountability work together to create real transformation and why awareness alone isn’t enough. Healing happens when feeling meets understanding.

If you’ve ever struggled with anxious thoughts, low self-worth, or the fear of rejection, this episode will help you recognise emotional patterns that keep you stuck, stop self-abandonment, set boundaries, and replace overthinking with self-trust.

Tune into this episode and discover how to interrupt the T.E.M.P.O. Cycle, rewire emotional patterns, and step into the confident, self-loving version of you that’s been waiting all along.
